Get ready for a thrilling race recap from Daytona International Speedway! The ARCA Menards Series drivers delivered an intense battle on February 14, 2026, and we're here to break down all the action. But here's where it gets controversial... or at least, where opinions might differ!
The 2.5-mile track hosted the General Tire 200, and the front row was set by Gus Dean and Isabella Robusto. With 80 laps of stock car racing ahead, the stage was set for an exciting race.
ARCA Race Report:
Green flag, and Dean took an early lead, clearing the field before Turn 1. But here's the part most people miss: the strategy behind each move. Dean's jump at the start was a bold move, setting the tone for an aggressive race.
As the race progressed, Mini Tyrrell's block from 6th position down the backstretch caused a spin, bringing out the caution flag. This strategic move, though, had unintended consequences, showing the fine line between bold tactics and potential disasters.
Green again, and Cleetus McFarland made a daring move to the outside, creating a three-wide battle for the lead into Turn 1. Robusto seized the opportunity, taking over the lead off Turn 2.
With 61 laps to go, Wesley Slimp's flat tire caused another spin, bringing out the caution flag once more. This time, it was the leaders' chance to pit, with Daniel Dye taking over the front row.
Dye maintained his lead through Turn 1, but Ryan Vargas kept it close, pulling even with him into Turn 3 via the outside lane. The race was truly on!
As the laps ticked down, the field formed three-wide behind Dye, creating an intense battle for position.
Race Break:
With 41 laps to go, Caleb Costner's stall brought out the caution flag, which also served as the race break caution. Dye pitted, allowing Gus Dean to cycle back to the race lead.
Robusto, who had been running strong, suffered from a vibration, forcing the team to push the car to the garage. Meanwhile, McFarland's race took a turn for the worse as a broken jack on the pit lane left him a lap down.
Green again, and Dean and Finch ran door-to-door for the lead. Finch's outside lane move paid off, shoving him clear to the lead.
With 28 laps to go, Presley Sorah's spin brought out the caution flag once more.
Green, and Finich led Dye off Turn 2. But here's where it gets really interesting: Alli Owens' blown engine caused her to spin into Turn 1, collecting Sean Corr and bringing out the red flag.
With 8 laps to go, Finich and Dye ran side-by-side at the front, with Finch clearing Turn 2. But Thomas Annunziata's spin off a bump draft gone wrong brought out the caution flag again.
With just 2 laps to go, Finich and Gus Dean ran side-by-side for the lead into Turn 1. But a bump draft from Ruggiero turned Finich sideways, collecting Dean and sending both into the wall!
Gio Ruggiero and Jake Wood took over the front row, and the green flag waved in Overtime. Ruggiero maintained his lead into Turn 1, while Tim Richmond spun behind them without a caution flag.
Ruggiero blocked a run from Bollman off Turn 4, showcasing his defensive skills.
And the winner is... Gio Ruggiero, taking the checkered flag at Daytona International Speedway!
So, what do you think? Was Ruggiero's win a result of strategic racing, or did he benefit from the chaos behind him? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
